Ecclesiastical Building Projects: Dagnall Street Baptist Church
Dagnall Street Baptist is a landmark 19th century building in a conservation area. Next door is The Cross Street Centre, a 1990s replacement for the original church hall. The members’ aim was to modernise the church building, link it with the Centre and create an environment better suited to the 21st century while retaining and enhancing the fine Victorian features.
The solution was to result in 2004 in a commendation by The St Albans Civic Society for sensitive modernisation. “The workmanship, attention to detail and the relationship of the old to the new are all outstanding.”
